Cashing in on wellness

We have been reaping the benefits of modern technology in all areas of our lives. But too much of a good thing may not be so good after all. A recent study revealed that our average stress level caused by overdependence on technology has steadily risen in the past decade. As a result, more consumers are reporting disrupted sleep, anxiety, irritability, and fatigue and turning to self-care techniques to mitigate the effects of stress.

Acknowledging that the surging popularity of wellness stems partly from our need to live better, MIG made a strategic move to partner with HealthLand to tap into the rapidly growing market, and powering HealthLand’s vision to become a global wellness platform.

In a memorandum of understanding signing event held at Nexus Connexion Conference and Event Center, Bangsar South on 28 October 2018, the companies invited the public to be part of Malaysia’s most important business symposium that would shape the future of holistic well-being.

From potential entrepreneurs and investors, to curious onlookers wanting to learn about and experience the latest innovations in the wellness industry, more than 500 participants attended the”Future of Wellness” symposium cum business dinner to discover a wealth of opportunities. Various wellness topics were covered by industry experts and fitness gurus, from content marketing to blockchain technology.

Among the guests of honor were chairman of Tourism Malaysia Dato Ahmad Shah, founder and CEO of UCSI Dato Peter Ng, and MIG advisor, Tengku Kin Eezaz.

Patrick Wee, the executive director of HealthLand, shared on the exciting opportunities found in the wellness industry, while Dato’ Brian Wee, Group CEO of MIG Group, answered the question on everyone’s mind by speaking on how to convert the opportunity in wellness into wealth.

Guests were also treated to a “sound bath” therapy session and a mesmerising taichi performance by well-known former World Tai Chi champion instructor David Bao.
